Iranian ‘Double’ vying at India’s IDSFFK

Iranian ‘Double’ is vying at the 12th Int’l Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala.

Iranian short ‘Double’ has been set for vying at the 12th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) in India.

Directed by Ronak Jafari, the 26-minute film revolves around two women trekking a long road to a village.

Trying to find her way to a film set, a young actress gets derailed into a journey as bizarre as the film she is about to act in.

Sahra Asadollahi, Banafsheh Araabi, Houman Rahnamoun, Toufan Mehrdadian, Alireza Pourhashem, Behnam Momeni, Shima Khazaei, Dorsa Abolfazli, and Amir Shahverdi are among the cast.

‘Double’ has gone on screen at a number of global film events, including the 2019 CoSM Women’s Visionary Film Symposium in the US, the 17th ONE SHOT Film Festival in Armenia, and the 40th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia where it has been named among the three best short films.

The short has also received two nominations at the North Europe International Film Festival "Fusion" and attended the 8th ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival in the Czech Republic as well as the 8th Annual Irvine Film Festival in the US.

The IDSFFK has over the years evolved into the key platform for non-fiction filmmaking in India. The festival aims to map and reflect the exploding and imploding nature of the medium in its many facets of creativity and resistance.

The IDSFFK aims to ensure the participation of both film professionals and audiences in programs that are designed to trigger dialogue and debates.

The 12th IDSFFK will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on June 21-26, 2019.
